Graduation and Father's Day Cards

Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes

We acknowledged June Birthdays in our Sunday School class on Sunday. I made these cupcakes for our special treat. The kids had a blast adding the finishing touches to their cones. They were easy and fun to make. Love the end results :)

Graduation 2013 (Brendan & Malik)

Brendan

Malik
Harrington's  two best buddies graduated from high school last month .  They have been a trio since they met Malik at church about six years ago. He and Brendan have known each other since they were three years old attending the same day care center.  They're all about two months apart in age, because Harrington has a January birthdate he started school a year later. He's a little sad that the   trio will be broken once the guys go off to school this fall, but if the Lords says the same they'll all be back together next May to celebrate with Harrington.

Cart

Henry and I went to breakfast at Matt's Big Breakfast on Saturday morning. This repurposed cart  used as a counter and merchandise display brought back memories  of my days at JC Penney. There were days when the carts resembled a loaded freight train as they were  lined-up from the stockroom to the sales floor.  We had to have them emptied before the store opened, some days that was impossible :(
Those were the days some days I long for those days... note I said some days :) I do miss the associates and of course the employee discounts $$$

Cool Mr. B

President Obama isn't  the only one who knows how to sport a  pair of Ray-Bans.
It's possible B.J. could be the next model for Ray-Ban eyewear.  LOL!!

Memorial Day 2013

Hopefully you all had a restful day, enjoyed a great cookout with your family and friends, and before you chowed down on that Barbeque you took time to remember the many brave men and women who scaraficed their lives so that we may enjoy this awesome thing called "FREEDOM".

As usually Henry had to work so Harrington, BJ and I spend the day relaxing. I went walking this morning and took BJ along for company since Harrington didn't want to go with me.He was going to hike Lookout Mountain with a friend. He didn't bother to ask if I wanted to go along, that's ok, I'll remember that when he wants me to take him and his friends somewhere. :)
We barbequed yesterday and enjoyed our leftovers today, so today was a very  good day!

Mother's Day 2013

Before I Was Myself, You Made Me, Me
Nicholas Gordon

Before I was myself you made me, me
With love and patience, discipline and tears,
Then bit by bit stepped back to set me free,

Allowing me to sail upon my sea,
Though well within the headlands of your fears.
Before I was myself you made me, me

With dreams enough of what I was to be
And hopes that would be sculpted by the years,
Then bit by bit stepped back to set me free,

Relinquishing your powers gradually
To let me shape myself among my peers.
Before I was myself you made me, me,

And being good and wise, you gracefully
As dancers when the last sweet cadence nears
Bit by bit stepped back to set me free.

For love inspires learning naturally:
The mind assents to what the heart reveres.
And so it was through love you made me, me
By slowly stepping back to set me free.

Happy Mother's Day Mother Dear!
Thanks for the memories  but above all your unconditional Love .
Today was a very good day. Harrington and I started our day by attending church at 7:30 A.M. followed by Sunday School. We got home about 11:30 and had brunch and the rest was history. Harrington and I were knocked-out sleep on opposite ends of the sofa with Mr. B in the middle. It's been a while since I've had a good Sunday afternoon nap, sure was nice. I think I'll declare at least one Sunday a month as Mother's Day. The guys don't have to give me gifts and cards, just  a day of TOTAL Rest.

Snow in Phoenix

It snowed in the Valley of the Sun today. Henry and I thought we done with snows days after we left Flagstaff, that wasn't so today.
Check out photos I snapped during my evening commute.  A normal 20 minute commute turned into a  40 minutes drive today in  all the rain and ice.  Just as I  reach our  neighborhood this beautiful Rainbow appears.

Presidential Inauguaration 2013

YES, we were there to witness history! We had been excited about attending the inauguration after we leanned in  October that Henry had been chosen as one of  twenty Arizona Department of  Public Safety officers selected to the 2013 Presidential Inauguaration Security Detail.

Harrington and I left two days earlier than Henry so we could  spend time with Amelia(Sissy) and Clyde. Amelia and Clyde have lived in the D.C. area for over 25 years and they're great tour guides. I've visited my sissy numerous times in the 25  plus years and I'm still as excited and mesmerize with the sights of our nation's capital as I was my first visit. There's always something new and exciting to see or do during each visit.

We went into D.C. on Saturday to see the MLK Memorial to avoid the Sunday crowds. I think everyone else  had  the same plan because it was crowded. Many of the school groups and bands in town for inauguration and were out sightseeing on Saturday and with being MLK Day on Monday this moument was attracting large crowds

F.D. Rooservelt Memorial

  • Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial ."The only thing we have to fear is fear itself....",
  • Dr. Martin Luther King Memorial . "I was a drum major for justice, peace, and rightousness"
  • World War II Memorial
Inauguration Day we were up and about  at  6:00 am. We wanted to beat the the crowds at the metro station,  It was a great thing we went Sunday night to purchse subway tickets because there were long line Monday morning at  the station.  Although there were large crowds at the station and on the mall, the  people were very polite and friendly.  The pleasant and engerized crowds drew our attention away from the friget  temperatuare and on to the vast sights and sounds on the mall inauguration morning.  It was cold out, but Thank God, the temperture wasn't as frigid as it was in 2009.

Amelia was well prepared for the elements
